HONOLULU ā€“Ā The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii recognizes Dennis Francis, chairman of its board of directors, on being named ā€œPublisher of the Yearā€ by national trade journal Editor and Publisher. The magazine cited the Honolulu Star-Advertiserā€™s a successful merge of two failing newspapers, followed by strong circulation and financial growth in a challenging newspaper environment as the basis for Francisā€™ honor.

Dennisā€™ leadership in his role as president and publisher of Honolulu Star-Advertiser has provided our great state with a top-notch publication and news source,ā€ said Sherry Menor-McNamara, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii. ā€œAs board chair, Dennis is helping to guide the Chamber in its efforts to improve the stateā€™s economic climate and help businesses thrive, and through his generous work in the community, ensuring a better quality of life for the people of Hawaii.ā€
As the leading ā€œVoice of Businessā€ in Hawaii, the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii is the stateā€™s largest organization advocating for businesses in Hawaii. Established in 1850, the Chamber works on behalf of its approximately 1,000 member companies and the business community, as a whole, to advance the stateā€™s economic climate and help businesses succeed. The Chamber supports its members with training, business building and networking opportunities; lobbies government and advocates on behalf of business interests; and serves as a liaison between civilian and military communities in Hawaii.
