Hawaii International Child (HIC) is committed to children who need permanent families including teens in foster care. Its services include helping prospective parents and support for those who are pregnant and considering the option of adoption. For more than 40 years, the HIC has served Hawaii as a local nonprofit and is not affiliated with or funded by any national organization.
HIC is the only Hawaii-based adoption agency that is accredited by the Council of Accreditation (COA), the national entity authorized by the U.S. Department of State that implements safeguards to ensure intercountry adoptions are ethical and in the best interest of children. HIC meets the standards founded by the Hague Convention, and the Universal Accreditation Act.
Its family of programs include the following: birth mother care and support, home studies, re-adoption service, post-placement visits, child and family counseling, search and reunions of adopted child and birth families.
