2018 Scovie Awards Honors Best Spicy & Savory Food Products

Hanapepe, Hawaii – The 2018 Scovie Awards judging panel of top culinary experts honored Salty Wahine with a 1st Place in the Cook It Up, Dry Rub/Seasoning –All Purpose category for their Hawaiian Rub. Hawaiian Rub was applauded for its Great Flavor.
Salty Wahine received a 2nd Place in the Condiments-Hot & Spicy, Table Seasoning category and a 3rd Place in the Meat Required, Dry Rub/Seasoning All Purpose Category for their Island Volcano Seasoning.
The Judges congratulated Salty Wahine for Island Volcano’s “Wonderful Blend of Spices”, “Beautiful Colors”, “Nice Aroma”, and “Texture”. Salty Wahine received a 3rd Place in the Meat Required, Unique category for their Island Curry. Island Curry received excellent comments for its “Great Flavor” and “Very Smooth Even Flavor”. Salty Wahine received a 3rd Place in the Cook It Up, Unique Category for their Passion Fruit, Orange, Guava Pepper. The Judges’ called the Salt-Free Passion Fruit, Orange, Guava Pepper “Just Wonderful”.

Dave DeWitt, founder of the Scovie Awards and the National Fiery Foods and Barbeque Show, said there were 121 total companies entering the 2018 competition, with 89 winning at least one award. There were entries from 31 states and 6 countries: the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Austria, Switzerland, and Australia.
