The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, University of Hawai‘i, and One Oahu are hosting the O‘ahu Back to Work Virtual Job Fair on Tuesday, November 24 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

The O‘ahu Back to Work Virtual Job Fair will feature employers from industries including healthcare, technology and skilled trades.

The fair is free and open to jobseekers across the state, and ideal for those who have just completed a skills training program through University of Hawai‘i Community Colleges’ O‘ahu Back to Work program. The fair will showcase Hawaii employers statewide who are actively hiring now.

“Hawai‘i’s economic recovery depends on a strong and resilient workforce. The O‘ahu Back to Work Virtual Job Fair will directly connect Hawai‘i residents displaced by COVID-19 with the first step to their next career opportunities,” Sherry Menor-McNamara, President & CEO, Chamber of Commerce Hawaii said. “The Chamber and our Hawaii Is Hiring initiative are proud to support graduates of the O‘ahu Back to Work program and jobseekers across our state.”

“With the help of the City and County of Honolulu, the University of Hawai‘i campuses are training more than 2,100 Oʻahu participants to upgrade their skills for jobs that are available,” Erika Lacro, University of Hawaiʻi vice president for community colleges said. “We are pleased to partner with the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii and local employers to provide O‘ahu Back to Work program participants the opportunity to meet employers who are actively hiring.”

Participants will be able to meet with recruiters at various employer booths, attend career workshops featuring University of Hawai‘i Career Counselors and network with professionals in their field of interest. Workshops will include:

  • Ready. Set. Go! Job Search Strategies for Success
  • The ABC’s of Beginning a Career in Healthcare in Hawai‘i
  • IT is Growing-How to Transition into One of Hawai‘i’s Most In-Demand Industries

The Chamber’s Hawaii is Hiring initiative is a one-stop online resource that connects kamaʻāina to job opportunities, training programs and career navigation. It provides local job seekers and new graduates with a streamlined job board and simple access to training and education tools valued in Hawaii’s in-demand and emerging industries.

The University of Hawaiʻi is offering free job training through O‘ahu Back to Work so Oʻahu residents are ready for the jobs that local companies are looking to fill today. Eight UH campuses are offering nearly 100 different training opportunities from October – December 2020. This initiative is financially backed by the City and County of Honolulu’s CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Funds.
