On September 6th, the Chamber announced a partnership with CyberHawaii at a joint cybersecurity event. The Chamber is the only member-based business organization affiliated with CyberHawaii. The official launch of CyberHawaii will be at the third annual Future Focus, an event hosted by the University of Hawaii and the Hawaii Business Roundtable. The day and a half event will be held on Oct. 4 and 5 at the Hawaii Convention Center. In addition to cybersecurity, this innovation conference will focus on astronomy and space exploration initiatives.
Cybersecurity continues to be an area of focus for the MAC, as it impacts everyone from government to private sectors, business to individuals. The Future Focus Forum will provide number of sessions on cybersecurity, including how we can be a more secure community, securing your business, and educational and career opportunities in the field.
Another highlight will be space exploration and the potential role Hawaii plays. NASA Astronaut Col. Michael Fincke, who served on three space missions and is 10th on the list of most space walk time, will address attendees on the second day of the conference.
Other notable speakers include, Lt. Gen. Paul Nakasone, Commanding General, U.S. Army Cyber Command; John Roth, Director of Business Development, Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Space Systems; and Adelina Kamal, Executive Director, ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management.
