Healthcare Association of Hawaiʻi Workforce Steering Committee

The committee is conducting a comprehensive survey of specific healthcare occupations. They worked with high schools, post-secondary institutions, and employers to understand the types and capacity of available healthcare training programs. The committee also is conducting a survey of occupations in-demand with five year projections. Results of the surveys will guide discussions with education and training providers on how to meet the workforce needs of our healthcare industry in Hawaiʻi.

Systems Integration Committee

Providers, payers and support partners are collaborating to address system issues together. The committee’s first pilot program brought The Queen’s Medical Center and Kalihi-Palama Health Center together to reduce the number of unnecessary emergency room visits. The partnership, aided by the Queen’s Care Coalition and its outreach team, resulted in an average 67 percent reduction in ER visits through collaborative care and information sharing between facilities. The cross-system committee is also focused on improving patient transitions across the care continuum, from admitting to discharge planning, to post-acute care.
