175 Years As the Voice of Business

In February 1941, the Public Health Committee of the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii established the Honolulu Blood-Plasma Bank, now known as Blood Bank of Hawaii, just several months before the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Opening on the grounds of what is now The Queen’s Medical Center, the Chamber’s proactive efforts helped ensure a reliable blood supply in times of crisis—a testament to our predecessors' commitment to the health, safety, and resilience of Hawaii.
