What is your preferred communication style when mentoring (in-person, video conference, phone, informal check-ins, structured meetings, etc.)?
In-Person, Video Conference, Phone Call
Why do you want to become a mentor in this program?
I have always enjoyed having mentors throughout my career and I believe it is important that all leaders provide mentoring to the next generation of leaders.
What specific skills, knowledge or experience can you share with your mentee?
I have gained experience in both operations and in the corporate world. I feel that sharing some of these experiences could be of benefit to a young leader in either operations or in a more corporate role. While these roles can vary, I have found that I have relied on the same leadership principles throughout my career and look forward to sharing those with a mentee.
What are your expectations for a mentor-mentee relationship?
My expectations are relatively simple. I would like to engage with someone who has an interest in learning and a desire to apply the knowledge or skills that they may gain throughout this mentoring relationship. I seek sincerity and openness to discuss issues that may be an obstruction to them reaching their career goals.
How do you approach problem-solving and conflict resolution?
Open dialogue is key. In my roles, I have sought the opinions of others on a specific topic so that I could best understand the issue and then I have sought a resolution that meets the goals that the organization is striving to achieve. I feel it is key to ensure that all parties understand, are aligned with, and committed to the goals of the organization to resolve any conflict that may exist.
How do you envision success for your mentee, and how will you measure it during the program?
A commitment to meeting, demonstrating an openness to discuss issues, listening, and reporting back on how they tackled a particular issue after discussing it in this relationship.
