Why do you want to become a mentor in this program?
I have benefitted from wonderful mentors throughout my career. I firmly believe it is my responsibility to offer the same kind of mentorship to the next generation of Hawaii’s leaders.
What specific skills, knowledge or experience can you share with your mentee?
Leading nonprofits; managing and working with teams; volunteering in the community; marketing and communications.
What are your expectations for a mentor-mentee relationship?
I want to be there for my mentee. The relationship will depend mostly on what my mentee feels she or he needs. I also want to connect my mentee with other leaders I think can benefit from meeting.
How do you approach problem-solving and conflict resolution?
Obtain as much information and data possible pertaining to the problem as well as views and opinions from the stakeholders. Make the process collaborative and get input from others. Then make the decision, develop an action plan, define roles, and execute.
How do you envision success for your mentee, and how will you measure it during the program?
To develop a relationship such that the mentee feels they can continue to seek advice from the mentor years later.
