Why do you want to become a mentor in this program?
I want to serve as a mentor to help others find strength in their own stories. Throughout my life, I have worked and lived in many parts of the world, often as a dark Asian woman in industries and cultures where leadership rarely looked like me. Those experiences of bias and underestimation shaped how I lead today, with empathy, resilience, and a deep belief in the importance of representation.

Mentorship allows me to pay forward the guidance and encouragement that helped me navigate those challenges. I want to help emerging professionals build confidence, find their voice, and lead authentically, especially those who may feel unseen or underestimated. My goal is to share real world insight, offer perspective from both local and global experiences, and empower the next generation of Hawaii’s leaders to rise with purpose and compassion.

What specific skills, knowledge or experience can you share with your mentee?
What I can offer my mentee is the perspective and experience gained from working and living in different parts of the world and leading teams across cultures. I hope to contribute to them to discover their authentic leadership identity, communicate with confidence, and build personal brands rooted in purpose and integrity.

What are your expectations for a mentor-mentee relationship?
Show up with an open mind, ready to learn, reflect, and grow. I hope to build a relationship based on trust, honesty, collaboration, and mutual respect. My expectation is that we both bring our best selves, listen with intention, and create a safe zone where confidence, curiosity, and genuine connection can thrive.

How do you approach problem-solving and conflict resolution?
I approach problem solving and conflict resolution with calm, empathy, and objectivity. I believe there are always multiple perspectives to consider, so I start by listening to understand before responding. I focus on facts rather than assumptions and encourage open dialogue that values every voice. I believe collaboration and respect lead to solutions that do not undermine others but instead build trust, strengthen relationships, and move everyone forward together.

How do you envision success for your mentee, and how will you measure it during the program?
I define success by growth, not perfection. If my mentee gains greater self awareness, confidence, and clarity about their goals, that is success. I look for progress in how they show up with openness, curiosity, and accountability. Success also means they are applying what they learn, building stronger connections, and seeing challenges as opportunities. My role is to guide, support, and celebrate each step of their personal and professional growth.
