Question and Answer with Jennifer
What is your preferred communication style when mentoring (in-person, video conference, phone, informal check-ins, structured meetings, etc.)?
In-Person, Video Conference, Email
Why do you want to become a mentor in this program?
I think mentorship should be a part of a successful career. In NYC, I had four mentors — which I considered my “board of directors.” There’s always room for improvement and mentorship is a way to crystalize your strengths and weaknesses.
What specific skills, knowledge or experience can you share with your mentee?
I think I can teach my mentee a lot of problem-solving skills. I also think it’s important to take risks, which is what I can teach.
What are your expectations for a mentor-mentee relationship?
To be open-minded and be on time. It is important to also come with your mission statement and vision for what you want to accomplish from our relationship.
How do you approach problem-solving and conflict resolution?
Radical candor.
How do you envision success for your mentee, and how will you measure it during the program?
Accomplishing five things we talked about.
