HONOLULU (KHON2) — A job fair is focused on giving local talent career opportunities and encouraging people to build a future here on the islands. 

On Wednesday, Aug. 5, the Kamaʻaina Comes Home event is focused on giving Hawaiʻi residents build professional relationships, explore career pathways and connect to local opportunities. 

“Hawaiʻi has long faced the challenge of brain drain, with talented students and professionals leaving the islands in search of opportunities elsewhere,” said Lord Ryan Lizardo, Vice President of Education and Workforce Development with Chamber of Commerce Hawaii.

“Kamaʻaina Come Home is about changing that narrative by connecting local talent with employers, career pathways, and professional networks that demonstrate the opportunities available right here at home. When we can retain and attract skilled workers, we strengthen Hawaiʻi’s workforce, businesses and communities.” 

The Chamber of Commerce will host the event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Hookupu Center. 

Event organizers said the evening will be a chance for networking and gaining an understanding of Hawaiʻi’s workforce.
