Press Release: Kamaʻaina Come Home® Returns Aug. 5 to Connect Local Talent with Career Opportunities and Community

July 16, 2026

HONOLULU, HI – The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii will host Kamaʻaina Come Home® presented by Zippy’s on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Hookupu Center, bringing together local talent, employers, and community members for an evening focused on careers, connection, and community.

Kamaʻaina Come Home® is designed to help Hawaii residents, students, and professionals build meaningful relationships, explore career pathways, and stay connected to opportunities across the islands. More than a job fair, the event serves as a gathering place for individuals and organizations committed to strengthening Hawaii’s workforce and creating opportunities for local talent to thrive.

Whether attendees are college students home for the summer, professionals considering their next career move, or individuals looking to reconnect with Hawaii’s workforce community, Kamaʻaina Come Home® offers opportunities to network with employers, community leaders, and fellow professionals while learning about resources and opportunities available throughout the state.

“Hawaii has long faced the challenge of brain drain, with talented students and professionals leaving the islands in search of opportunities elsewhere,” says Lord Ryan Lizardo, Vice President of Education and Workforce Development with Chamber of Commerce Hawaii. “Kamaʻaina Come Home® is about changing that narrative by connecting local talent with employers, career pathways, and professional networks that demonstrate the opportunities available right here at home. When we can retain and attract skilled workers, we strengthen Hawaii’s workforce, businesses, and communities.”

The evening will feature interactive networking and talk story discussions that encourage meaningful conversations and new connections. Attendees will have opportunities to engage with participating organizations, learn about available resources, and deepen their understanding of Hawaii’s workforce and community landscape. Light appetizers will be provided.

This event is made possible by presenting sponsor Zippy’s and venue sponsor The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Hookupu Center, as well as Kamehameha Schools Kaiaulu, Bishop & Company Inc., and Hawaiian Electric.
