YP HI School Mentor Program
The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii Young Professionals (YP) HI School Mentor Program pairs Young Professional Mentors with high school students to offer inspiration, advice, and guidance.
About the Program
The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii Young Professionals (YP) HI School Mentor Program pairs Young Professional Mentors with high school students to offer inspiration, advice, and guidance in a career related to the YP mentor’s industry. In partnership with the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii’s Education and Workforce Development Department, the YP mentors will commit to a mentoring period of September 2026-December 2026 and beyond (pending start date for when mentor is paired). During the mentoring program, the YP mentor and student(s) work on an academic project together for the students to learn the life, professional skills and academic skills needed for the future.
Student Eligibility Requirements
- Be completing one of the following projects:
- Senior Capstone / Level 4 WBL Projects
- AVID Service Learning Project
- STEM Capstone Project
- American Saving Bank KeikiCo Competition
- …can be another project pending approval
- Be a student from one of the high schools below:
- Baldwin High School
- Campbell High School
- Kapolei High School
- King Kekaulike High School
- Kulanihakoi High School
- Lahainaluna High School
- Maui High School
- Nanakuli High School
- Pearl City High School
- Waianae High School
- Waipahu High School
- Meet with YP HI School Mentor at least twice a month virtually from September 2026 – December 2026 and beyond!
- Complete all work-based learning paperwork from your school.
Benefits of Mentorship
Mentorship will:
- Be from September 2026 – December 2026 (can go beyond this date as agreed by mentor and mentee)
- Meet virtually at least twice a month and in-person periodically at your school
- Give you an opportunity to grow in your leadership and professional skills!
- Give you the opportunity to learn about an industry you are passionate about
- Give you college and career readiness advice and skills
- Give you support for a project you are currently working on
- Give you a mentor for LIFE!
APPLY TO BE A MENTOR
Mentor Requirements:
- Must be 21-39 years old
- Available from September 2026 – December 2026
- Available for a minimum of 2 hours per month to meet with mentee(s) virtually or in-person
Applications are open for both our Oahu and Maui cohorts. Oahu applications will close on Sunday, August 16.
